About
Captain Mark Giacobba
Welcome to my web site! I hope you enjoy browsing the site and that within it
you have located your guide for exploring and fishing the inshore waters of South
Florida. I am a United States Coast Guard licensed Captain, commercially insured
and an approved Everglades National Park fishing/sight seeing guide. From me,
you can expect a patient and polite guide who will maintain your interests as
the top priority throughout the day. I consider each person whom I guide a guest
and a new or old friend - you're not just a client. The people I meet and know
through my charter service come from diverse backgrounds & cultures and vary
from local residents to out-of-state visitors, business travelers and curious
anglers from all over the globe. The common bond we all share is a love for being
on the water, a deep passion for enjoying and exploring the outdoors, and of course,
catching fish. While my specialty is fly-fishing, my guests can enjoy all
levels of angling from spin, plug casting, artificial lures as well as live bait
fishing. But, if you've never picked up a fly rod or are perhaps looking to hone
some of your fly fishing skills, I usually carry a couple of fly rods onboard
the skiff and would enjoy the opportunity at some point in the day to either introduce
you to this great sport or provide you with some friendly pointers. I believe
that half of guiding is teaching - perhaps about techniques, the region or the
variety of species we may encounter on our voyage. My approach to guiding is based
on simple, yet sound concepts such as safety, preparation, strategy, professional
rigging, keeping a competitive edge, coaching, sharing techniques, knowledge of
the waters, understanding the habits and whereabouts of targeted fish and providing
an atmosphere of sport and entertainment for my guests. The style of angling
that you can expect will be light tackle and it is intended to be challenging
and, most of all fun. The majority of the fishing that we'll do is for sport,
so naturally I promote catch and release. Although harvesting certain fish for
your dinner is encouraged and welcomed. If you have any questions or comments,
feel free to contact me at (561) 789-2983. Hope to welcome you aboard
soon! -- Captain Mark Giacobba
